The River The river is just about as low as I have ever seen it, but thanks to the groyne building team, the water is still offering a bit a fun, especially at the bottom of the course where there is a nice little surfing wave.
Wednesday Nights Mark is usually there at 7pm to provide support, advice and a challenge to all who turn up.
Thursday Nights Thursday night is slalom night. We will be starting a novice slalom group from next Thursday (7th July). The session will r un from 6:00 – 6:45. If you’d like to have a go in a slalom boat, come down to the container at 5:30. Advanced slalom will take place from 7:00 pm.
New Members In April a group of ten beginners joined the club and completed a five week “Introduction to the River” course. A huge thanks to Mark, Rick and Colin for coaching these sessions and to the other club members who also turned up to support them.
They are all now competent to join the regular club sessions so please come and join them on either a Wednesday or Thursday night.
Pool Sessions Every six weeks we have the opportunity to book the outdoor pool at the New Bath Hotel. The pool is emptied and cleaned the next day so this means that we are allowed to take in boats that have been used in the river. The pool is fed by thermal spring water and is untreated so there will be no damage to your canoe kit from chlorine.
This is a brilliant opportunity but we need at least ten people to book it. If you would like to book the pool, please let Donna know at least two weeks before and your place will be confirmed if there is enough interest to book it.
Dates for 2022 are: 14/8/22, 25/9/22, 6/11/22 and 18/12/22.
