Join the Club or Renew your Membership

Matlock Canoe Club membership is now managed online, using a system called Membermojo. This is a simple-to-use, secure online system designed specifically to handle club memberships. Your personal information will be safe and won’t be passed on to any third parties by MCC or Membermojo. You can read about Membermojo’s security here.

Renewals and other changes to your membership are done online by you at any time – you’ll be reminded when your membership is due for renewal.

You can still pay offline if you want to, although we’d prefer you to use Paypal. If you do give us a cheque or cash, you still need to register and enter your details online using Membermojo.

Membership fees for 2017 are listed below. If you (or all paddling members of your family membership) are a British Canoeing member, you qualify for a reduced price, as the Club does not have to pay for your insurance cover.

Junior£25.00£20.00

Note that family memberships can include a maximum of 5 family members. To qualify for the  family membership at the British Canoeing rate, all paddling members of the family should be British Canoeing members.

You don’t need a password to log in to the system. This doesn’t mean the system is insecure! Instead of using a password, the system will send a link to your registered email address, which you then click on to get access to your details (similar to when you ask a site to send you a ‘forgotten password’ link). This way you don’t need to remember a password that you will probably only use once a year. If you want to, you can set a password on your account, but please try to make it a strong one if you do.

Email the Membership Secretary, membershipmatlockcc@gmail.com if you have any queries.

New Members

Welcome, so you would like to get involved in Canoe and Kayaking?

Seen it at the Olympic games LONDON 2012 and RIO 2016? then Matlock Canoe Club is the place to come. The Club is very popular and to manage the demand of our Introductory 6 week course we have a waiting list. We try to keep this list as short as possible but a wait of a couple of weeks is typical depending on the time of year.

Matlock Canoe Club is an active slalom and recreational club in the East Midlands region and has a very strong social focus, therefore it is worth waiting for.

Of course, if you can already paddle and are experienced on moving water, dependent on the weather conditions and water levels, so why not come down to the river either at the at the Slalom site Matlock  or Matlock Bath Pavilion site, where you are more than welcome.

Venue and times are detailed click here here

What Next?

So you’ve done your six sessions so what now?

The next stage – You can continue to come for a further six week block and be taught further skills and practice and improve your current skills; ask the Session Leader for details of the next block of sessions.

Transfer to the river with a current group. A coach will advise whether you have sufficient skills to paddle on the river. These sessions are currently on Monday evenings, although we are considering changing them to fewer more concentrated weekend workshops.

If you are already an experienced paddler with your own boat, then come down to Matlock ARC Leisure Centre on a Monday evening. There are a limited number of pool slots for you to book, either to be taught further skills, and practise to improve your current skills or just do your own thing. Email poolmatlockcc@gmail.com asking to be put on the list.

If you are already an experienced river paddler, either see us in the Matlock ARC Leisure Centre on a Monday evening or down on the river on Monday (from Easter), Wednesday or Thursday nights, usually at about 7pm. E-mail coachingmatlockcc@gmail.com to be put in touch with the appropriate session leader(s).
